What's the next big thing in beer?
With nearly 10,000 breweries in America, there's something out there for everyone. Twelve brewers interviewed by VinePair suggest these may be things to watch for in 2025
- German lagers
- West Coast pilsner
- Saison
- Italian pilsner
- West Coast IPA
- Beers made with historic techniques
- Hefeweizens
- English ales
- Malt-forward lagers
- Low-ABV beers
- Ultra-light lagers
Other trends seen around are an increase in popularity of lagers, efforts in sustainability at breweries, an appreciation of malt, especially craft malts.
For packaging, breweries are turning to stovepipes (19.2 oz cans) as something that will last for a while, or going small with 8 oz cans, to match the glass pony bottles.
What do you think will happen? What's your preference? Do you like to find one beer and stick to it, or do you experiment with different styles and tastes? Are you a craft beer only kind of person, or do you go with different styles for different occasions.
